Safeguard Home Inspections operates under the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI) — the premier national professional association for home inspectors in Canada.

These standards define exactly what must be inspected, how findings must be reported, and what ethical obligations the inspector carries to every client. They aren't aspirational guidelines — they are binding professional requirements that every CAHPI Registered Home Inspector must uphold.

When you book with Safeguard, you're protected by both documents. Download them below and know exactly what to expect.

CAHPI Standards of Practice

The Standards of Practice define the scope of a home inspection — what systems and components must be examined, what methods are used, and what must be included in the written report. This is the professional benchmark every Safeguard inspection is measured against.

CAHPI Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics governs the professional conduct and integrity of every CAHPI member. It covers independence, objectivity, confidentiality, and the duty to place the client's interests first. This is the promise Sam makes to every person who books an inspection.

Why it matters

Not all inspectors are
held to the same standard.

Home inspection is not a regulated profession in every province. That means anyone can call themselves a home inspector without any training, certification, or accountability. CAHPI membership — and especially the RHI designation — signals that your inspector has met rigorous national criteria and is bound by a formal code of professional conduct. With Safeguard, you're not gambling on a name. You're hiring someone who is accountable to a national standard.
